i know i am SO late at responding to this... and for that i am so sorry! i hope this kinda shows you more of me being low maintenance. i did read this comment originally, but sometimes i just have a hard time living life and remembering to respond. i am so sorry!
to answer your question about layouts... i do a mix of both! so right now i have one from ~ourhappyhours on livejournal... and i have used many in the past from a number of talented creators. but i've also had ones that i've pieced together and made myself. there's a place on DW called ~dreamwidthlayouts that has a bunch of them. i have lots of places and users that have beautiful layouts, so if you're ever wanting something new, feel free to ask! i've also helped people out with making them layouts before myself. so, whatever you're feeling, i can most likely help and am happy to do it when i have time!
